The River Nore Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny

We started importing Nicholas Mosse Pottery to Pittsburgh back in 1978 and it has grown to be one of the most popular items that we carry. The pottery is entirely handmade in a picturesque setting on the banks of the Nore river in Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny, about six miles south of Kilkenny City. The location was originally the site of the Mosse family mill which produced flour as a commercial enterprise for many years. Each piece is hand thrown from a strong earthenware clay and then begins a process of firing and decorating with intricately cut sponges in floral, fruit, and animal patterns. The results are a delight to behold. His insistance on quality and his team's committment to it have made his pottery a prized possession of collectors around the world.
At Irish Design Center you will find a full selection of this wonderful pottery aling with a new range of coordinating table linens. Please feel free to call or e-mail us with any specific request. We have included a few of our favorite items and patterns in our online store to give you a taste of what we offer at the store. For a more complete view of the range, see the artist's website.
