| Kinsale has to be one of the Prettiest towns in Ireland. Its narrow streets and well kept old buildings are a delight to behold. In the last century this was a thriving fishing port. Today, it is more likely sailing boats you will see in the harbor. People come from all over Ireland to savor the culinary delights of Kinsale's many fine restaurants and pubs. The town is often referred to as the gourmet capital of Ireland and every October the Gourmet Festival is held. |

Wild Goose Studio was for many years housed in the converted stables and carraige house of an 18th century building in the center of the town but recently moved to new quarters and Knocknabohilly close by. The company specializes in sculptures, bas reliefs, and statues which are cold cast by hand, a technique which captures every detail of the original model. The pieces have a thick skin of bronze or cast iron and are completed with a resin filling.
However, this is just a manufacturing technique. The real delight of these pieces is how they tap into the rich lore of Celtic history and design both in the reproductions of ancient patterns and in newer pieces by contemporary Irish artists like Oisin Kelly, Nell Murphy, and Kathleen Smyth. Symbols, myths, and archetypes are brought to us from across the centuries with stunning contemporary relevance. These pieces are truly gifts for the imagination. |
